Before taking this course I really never understood the fact that recycling is a serious issue. We as people always enjoy doing what is the most easy for us. In fact everyday technology is rising we have phones that able to work on our command, we have digital 3D devices that work and are controlled without the touch of our finger, so why can’t we make a technology advance equipment that makes recyclable work and more efficient. Currently, the best we can do is promote our recycling and that is our campus project, but I would like to do more than that. I want to be able to educate people about recycling and why it is an issue. In short terms, Samantha MacBride discuss that the movement for recycling has been occurring for years and through the fights and struggles, environmentalist have made moves.
Moreover, Mcbride discusses about glass bottles and how they are a hassle. She states that glass contains 100% of virgin materials and takes a lot of time and energy. Glass recycling requires a lot of energy. It is clear that this is not good for our environment. The solution to this problem is that people should start buying reusable bottles. For example, the company Aldi is a grocery store, and it takes baby steps in trying to maintain our earth Green. For example, Aldi charges consumers if they want to take a plastic bag for their groceries, and recommande consumers to bring their own reusable cloth bags or used boxes. This way the company is promoting recyclable and saving energy
Recently in Middle Point Sanitary Landfill located in Walter Hill is an operation that is growing very fast, and this due to the abundant amount of trash the city is collecting. The county officials discusses how they are already providing curbside pickup of garbage for the residents but the trash is so much, and they might issue a mandatory recycling in the city and would start charging people fines. This is a very effective way to get recycling going because in reality no one wants to pay for recycling.
